Awesome trail. We were lucky enough to come right as a controlled burn was wrapping up. So cool to see the juxtaposition between the burned areas and the overgrown side. Sandy, teeming with wildlife, wide, flat, easy trail. Kids loved it.

Definitely use GPS or Mapping App! After the lead-in, if you take a right to go counter-clockwise, the entire trail is overgrown and mostly without any blazes. It's beautiful, but you cannot rely on a distinguishable trail or blazes to make it through. Once we reached the trail for the campsite and came out, it was very well marked and easy to follow. As if we were in a completely different forest. There are a lot of babywipes strewn along the trail and while I usually pick up any garbage I find, I'm not picking that up!

Decent trail. Going clockwise will be a dirt road for at least 3 miles. Once off the dirt road the trail is overgrown and virtually no maintenance. Thank goodness for the blazing or I would have gotten lost. Even with the blazing I got off path and luckily realized it pretty quick, backtracked and got back on the trail. That's how overgrown it is- the latter half if going clockwise it sometimes looks like you are walking through the forest with no trail. Despite these shortcomings, I enjoyed myself. I almost stepped on a snake that was parked right on the trail. Walked around it and didn't see another. I have no idea what kind of snake it was. Overall I liked it and will be doing it again. 7 miles for the full loop

went backpacking with grandson. had great time. beautiful scenery. creek , swampy sections. even found a small spring. We did see cat scat on trail going out. too large for bobcat. and prints of possible kitten at one spot? loved it. recommend. no trouble from cat. people do take there horses down there. wish could reserve site.

It was nice walking trails good for a picnic or to take the dog on. All the trails except the camp trail were white diamond which I think can make it easy to go around in circles for some if the sun isn’t out. my map represents about half the connections. I enjoyed setting up my hammock and reading till I fell asleep. Something pushing over trees woke me up. Not sure what it was could have been a skunk-everything sounds big in the woods when you can see them. Deer on the other side if the river running around, sounded wet over there. Saw a bunch of gopher tortoise holes, a butterfly and only half a dozen or so birds. no bugs. some Trails seem to have been mowed in the past month.

all in all not a bad trail. if you go clockwise the first third is very well worn, you're basically on a dirt road. took a wrong turn early on and dead-ended in the swamp but figured it out fairly quickly. the last half is not well worn or maintained but as long as you follow the white blazes you shouldn't have much trouble. couple places are pretty boggy but I was able to go around.

not well traveled or properly maintained the overgrown firebreaks make for a better trail in some places. until maintenance is done you would be better off choosing a different trail.

Pretty easy to navigate. Very isolated. If you love running on the beach but don't like all those pesky ocean views, this is the perfect trail for you. A ton of loose sand trails.

so I didn't actually go hiking because it was Hunt season and technically the field was open but I wasn't wearing an orange vest and safety first with a big Brown dog. so I uploaded a photo of their hunt schedule

This was a nice outing but i would recommend bringing bug spray. There were some nice roads with plenty of side trails to take. Some of the trails got pretty muddy and had to go off trail to get around them but will definitely do this trail again

Wife and I back packed it today it was about 85 degrees seen two gopher turtles and a green snake. Beautiful paths will be going back again. Only dislikes is that we had to go on the main road to complete loop and all the side paths do not clearly explain how long it is. But all and all will be coming back

Me and my husband hiked this trail about a month ago and we enjoyed ourselves but it was not very well marked at all. As a matter of fact we actually got lost and ended up dead ending into a swamp once, but we turned around and found markers on a decent trail finally and got to our destination. The camp site was really pretty and it was right on the river where it had a white sandy beach. I did wish that the rangers from the area would put some type of trash receptical Out there because people had trash thrown everywhere. Lets say all in all a average hike not the greatest but not the worst.
