The boardwalk was destroyed which was actually kinda cool, and the over grown vines were beautiful but the bugs were absolutely unbearable on this trail. I do NOT recommend going if you don’t do well with being literally attacked. I’ve done a ton of trails at this national park, but this by FAR has the worst set of bugs.

Hurricane Irma destroyed most of the vegetation in September 2017. It's slowly growing back, starting with the vines and Bromeliads. A good view of the hurricane Eco cycle in the Everglades.

Really beautiful! Stopped late at night, the boardwalk must have been damaged in a storm. It was blocked off, sadly no longer a loop but very beautiful to see the twisted gnarled ends of the boardwalk.

A shaded boardwalk through the interesting mangroves that briefly escapes to great views from the edge of West Lake. Prepare for the mosquitoes.

This is a nice little trail through the Mangroves. This trail is quiet, cool, shaded and ominously spooky. A nice trail for kids. However, lots of mosquitoes and biting flies. I sprayed down with insect repellent but still had to wrap a towel around my upper body to protect myself. But it was neat.
