Spent a lovely afternoon on this trail. The entry part of the hiking trail has a nice canopy providing lovely shade on a hot afternoon. However, when you get to the loop portion it becomes more open and has less shade so keep that in mind on a hot day. Bring plenty of water to stay hydrated. We encountered several deer and it was lovely to see some of the wildlife. Bring a swimsuit so after your hike you can cool off in the springs!

The path as marked is actually the orange trail. The in and out part is 1 mile each way, the loop is 4 miles. In and out is 1/2 shade and packed trail and 1/2 full sun and sugar sand. The 4 mile loop was primarily full sun and partially sugar sand. Saw a deer on the road and a turtle on the trail. The directions to the park has you park far from the start of the trail. The trailhead is next to the springs. The park is really busy now and closes around 1000 to prevent overcrowding.

I didn’t find the trail I was looking for, but even better I saw a deer. Right in the middle of the trail . my Life Line told me that it was a young buck who had velvet antlers. It was pretty buggy. And lots of roots that trip you . Well they can trip me. As I was leaving the trail I saw two ladies hiking, and two guys on bikes. And a lady taking photographs with a nice camera. When I got here I didn’t see anybody. And I never saw anybody on the trail itself. I will definitely be back especially since I have an annual pass!

Headed out about 8am, didn’t see anyone until about halfway in. Got to see a black bear, a momma deer with two nursing babies, a few spiders, snakes, an even a rabbit! I really enjoyed this trail, and i think it’s best in the early morning. The way the dew settles on the grass in the early morning. Unbelievably beautiful!

Perfect trail, not crowded too early. Some area are not shaded so plan accordingly.

didn't see any wildlife except a very pretty red bird, didn't even hear the birds much today. it was an Ok hike, I was expecting to see more water, but nice overall

Cool cloudy day but very pleasant. 6.25 mile loop with good shade if it was a sunny day

Easy trail, nice walk through the nature and at the end you get a refreshment by swimming in the springs.

I hiked the orange blazed trail...at times it was white and orange. FANTASTIC TRAIL! Very well marked and maintained. Saw several other hikers and a couple of bicyclists. Truly enjoyed this. You are out in the middle of the woods. Only a few times could you hear the road-bliss! I brought my dog w me and she had a great time, too. Park entry was $4 for one person in a vehicle.

This is the orange blazed Volksmarch trail. A nice slice of a few different micro ecosystems. Saw rabbits and deer, heard turkeys. Lots of shade, mostly pine needles and leaves to walk on, a few mini bridges, not much sugar sand, and only a few spots with heavy roots. Benches every half mile or so. A few spots where the blazes were missing, so had to check my map. Well traveled, so you will encounter many other hikers, some mountain bikes. Saw a guy on a heavy duty unicycle, which was cool. Popular jogging trail. This entire trail is also mapped and fairly active in Pokemon Go, amusingly enough, if that is your thing. Park entry was $4 for 1 person and car. Be aware this park often has to close its gates in the summer because the springs are very popular, so always plan on arriving at open. Pet friendly, saw many dogs.

beautiful but well traveled hike. the park map is a hot mess, all of the trail markers use names like "mill loop", um okay the map says there's a white trail? WTF? Very confusing. So ended up doing about 4 miles because of rerouting and ended up on the mill loop which is blazed white. LARGE area of toilet paper down by the river. ew.

Very nice and long trail It was great. Will be returning.

Hiked today. Some areas have ankle deep water so bring some sandals to change into. Didn’t see anyone on the trail. Some parts have very recently been trimmed back so the majority of this trail is easy to follow. Trail markers are present at consistent intervals either on a pole or painted on a tree.

This trail should be renamed The Volksmarch Trail in the app, bc that’s what it is. It is the orange blazes, overlapping with the white blazed trail for a while. A really good central Florida hike, almost exactly 6 miles for the loop. Open areas and then canopied sections keep it interesting. We didn’t see too much wildlife this time but it’s definitely there. Not too much sugar sand and the trail(s) is well marked.
