Timucuan Trail is a 3.5 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for nature trips and birding and is accessible year-round.
Absolutely beautiful!! Wide, well marked trails. Lots of shade. It’s about 2 miles in to the water, with a short little path out to the bay. There’s enough shoreline that you could probably take a small chair or a hammock and sit by the water a bit. Then it’s a little less than 2 miles back in. One of the best hikes I’ve done in Florida.
We had a terrific hike. So glad we went the long loop. Watch for wild orange trees, just know they are really really sour! Beautiful views, saw a couple armadillo, no bugs on the trail in late January but we sat at the picnic area and the No See Ums came out.
Very nice hiking trail. Trail was maintained and easy to walk on. Beautiful views of the water. Saw lots of armadillos too!
This trail is always well maintained and beautiful. The trees are very polite here.
off the main drag so a lot less people. saw no wildlife but nice wide trail so no tick worry
Shaded, flat, meandering trail under nice canopy of trees. In November not that many bugs. Scenery ok. Quiet. Worth the effort. Not much more to say.
Shade in Florida is rare but the “purple” trail has plenty of shade from the live oaks and Spanish moss. Definitely divert off onto the “yellow” trail too to see the water. Discovered tiny crabs that were fun to look at. You will find picnic table there too. $3 fee access.
A beautiful hike! Even the drive to the trail was beautiful. The trail had many pretty plants and animals (I saw deers, wild boars, armadillo, butterflies, birds and a turtle!). I did encounter lots of mosquitoes and puddles though, so make sure you go on a dry day!
If you are looking for an easy trail that is relatively flat and well shaded this is the trail for you. The partial sand trail will give you a good work out and the shade will help keep you cool. Always a great place for a nature walk. Don’t forget to take the oyster reef side trail at the halfway point to enjoy some great views.
Easy Hard packed and sandy. Very shady trail and no real elevation changes.
Great little hike through some true Florida wilderness. Well maintained trails that are perfect for bike riding or hiking and it’s easy enough if want to take kids too. Plenty of wildlife; feral hogs, bald eagles, armadillos, etc. Beautiful oak hammocks abundant with beautiful scenery.
Plenty of shade, wild pigs, birds, armadillos & people. Clean bathrooms, wide well marked trails & benches.
