Easiest segment of FL Trail in a while. Yellow River segment is more challenging, so I was looking for a break and I finally got one. Great streams for cooling off. Enjoy!

Did the Blue Blazes trail on the west side of hwy 85. Overall it was a good trail, but the amount of ticks on this trail compared to the others right in this area was horrible. Constantly was having to pick them off my legs, even with 40% DEET bug spray. And it’s only the beginning of April. The end of the trail at the Yellow River was also very anticlimactic. There’s a much nicer area with benches about .5mi-1mi before the end that’s on the river as well and much more enjoyable

Good trail with plenty of shade. If you are over 6 ft tall, expect to bump your head a lot on branches. Plenty of bugs. Bridge and Pearl Creek is nice and not far up the trail.

Did the first 3 miles out and back. Well marked and all. There was one tree down and the of the 6 bridges 5 1/2 were a few 4x4s held up by 5x5s. Also great for geocaching.

Nice, overcast day. Stopped for a short 1 mile out and back in order to get a little time on the Florida Trail while driving through the area. Impressed at how quickly the highway sounds faded out. We did get to experience the awesome sound of freedom as the Eglin AFB jets soared overhead. Although we only covered .5 mile of the Trail, it was well blazed and beautiful. I would definitely take this again with more time to spare. Trailhead was easy access and perfect for our short time window.

Did approximately 17 mile out and back from the parking lot at 85 to Jr. Walton Pond. It was really cool to see all the creeks along the way. You have to check in at Jackson Guard and pay to stay overnight because you’re camping inside of Eglin Air Force Base.

Cimarron section of the Florida Trail (west of Hwy 85). We hiked west to east with members of the Florida Trail group. Temperature was in the 50°, dry and NO bugs! Great day for a hike. This is a dead end section of trail that starts/ends just west of Hwy 85.

Did the hike today with my wife. The trail is very clean, well blazed and pretty easy. Didnt see any wildlife or wildflowers. There is a dirt parking area off Rt 85 on the east side. The hike was pleasant but nothing special. I would do.it again.
