Spruce Bluff, South AIS Indian Mound Trail is a 1.9 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Port St. Lucie, Florida that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching.
Took my bike. Couldn’t bike the whole, so walked my bike along the muddy parts. But very nice views.
nice trail, To different parts of the trail only shows one part on all trails. Nice walk though.
Hiked the north side and the trails were easy and wide for the most part. I didn’t realize there was another trail on the south side of SE Dar Lane but I will hike that trail on my next visit.
North trail is very easy to do, not a lot of mud. The view of the river is spectacular. Follow the orange blazes if you’re lost. The south trail is VERY muddy after the first boardwalk (points 14 and 15 on the trail map), I had to turn back since I didn’t have the right gear. I definitely will be back.
This is a beautifully diverse, yet easy, hike. Make certain you walk both trails; they are located on opposite sides of Dar Lane. The AIS Indian Mound Trail can be very muddy and mucky along the path from the first to second bridge. Take the time to explore some of the little extensions off of the main trails—you won’t be disappointed, as a variety of flora and fauna reside there. Gopher Tortoises, squirrels, Eastern Indigo Snakes, Limpkins, Snowy Egrets, and Mottled Ducks were all spotted.
Trail is short but nice, saw a turtle while out here. I like hownit has some shady areas and soft terrain. I need to come back with my kayak and tryout the lake.
Had to turn back after the bridge due to excessive mud. Would love to finish the rest of this trail on a drier day.
This is a great trail right in our back yard! I bike this trail however its not bike friendly, there are high roots and boardwalks at some points where you have to walk, I would still recommend it for a quick ride. You have to visit the creepy cemetery, also know you have to walk through a private neighborhood to get to the water view. See attached photos of the map or trailhead map, my first time I didn't look at the map and they were easily missed.
