Sanibel Captiva Conservation Trail is a 9.7 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Sanibel, Florida that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
This trail is actually a bike path/walking path on Sanibel along the main road. There is no clear start. There is a CVS shortly after where the start is shown on this map, which is where we parked. If you go 2.3 miles following this “trail” you get to the Ding national wildlife refuge. We took this instead of following the bike path (the trail on this map.) We took the Indigo trail 1.9 miles one-way through the refuge which allows for birdwatching (saw plenty- very interesting), crocodile watching (saw none), and walking through more interesting terrain and wildlife than just walking along the road on the bike path. Total round trip from the CVS was 9 miles.
