Def an unmaintained trail and very mosquito-y. Still fun to walk through the pond and slash pines. Boardwalk is slippery so step with caution.

Must love spiders! Unmaintained trail, and the boardwalk is covered in mold, making it very slippery. Otherwise it’s a good hike. The fish were jumping!

This was our first time here. we really enjoyed the trail, it was very easy to walk. It is a pretty simple trail to follow as well, start at the trail head and walk for a little, then you have a loop, we went down to the right and came up the other part of the loop for our return. We did walk down to the boardwalk and watched the water for a bit. There are a couple parts of the path with some foliage that is a little over grown, nothing unmanageable, this includes the boardwalk as well. Most of the benches are rotted and need to be replaced. We didn't have any issues with ticks but there were tons of huge spiders on the path, so you definitely want to keep your eyes open. Nice place but it needs a little TLC.

Not a bad trail, needs a little love in some areas. Bring bug spray! Lots of webs on the path too! If you have a dog bring a tick killing spray just in case, my dog needed it immediately after for seed ticks.

The Salt Springs Observation Trail is an easy hike and well marked. Several benches are along the loop trail and seating is also available on the observation platform overlooking Salt Springs Run. Parking is available at the trail head.

Good walk, nicer at the end when you start seeing more vegatation. Several benches along the way. Pier is small but nice overlook. Very quiet and wildlife viewing is hit or miss. Take water durring the summer. This trail gets hot.

Beautiful little 2 mile out and back. The last 1/4 mile is dense with palm trees and there was a small alligator just off the observation platform

First to Review

A mile and back along a well-maintained trail to a nice boardwalk and view of the Saint Johns River with plenty of old growth forest in along the way in Ocala National Forest. And easy hike, and turns into a loop about 1/4 of a mile in so you can take a different way back to the parking area. Biking and horseback prohibited.
