There are many trails available at Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park. This is one of the shorter loops starting just west of the visitor center. Despite the flat terrain the loop is made more difficult by a lack of shade, sandy trails and often water on the trails. A bike will help you see more of the park. There is camping at the park, but note that if you do come for a day trip the park gates are closed at sunset.

Wife and I took the dog to the backcountry campsites and it was wonderful. Not too far from the parking lot. Had a really nice canopy to contrast the wide open sunbaked prairie. Dry when we went, but have heard that it floods easily and gators ARE present on the trail. Very different from the rest of Central Florida's scrub wilderness. Would definitely recommend! We camped at the Astronomy Site which was amazing. Never have I seen so many stars. We woke up the next morning around 8:30 and headed on the trail. The trail is not marked but easy to follow you just have to stay to the right hand at each Fork go to the right. We saw tons of birding while we were out there. We also saw a few Young deer on the trail. There's A Primitive campsite that if no one is there you can stop and have a snack and relax. It goes through two or three different hammocks and the Prairie portion of the hike reminded me of being in Africa for some reason. There's great scenery throughout the hike and the only downside is of course our Florida Sugar Sand towards the end of the hike but it wasn't too bad.
