Getting There

Please note that as of May 2020, Palmetto Passage portion of this trail is closed due to flooding. Other parts of the trail remain open as well as the rest of the trails in the park. Please note that trail flooding has been reported. Please bring appropriate footwear as you may have to cross water. Tibet-Butler Preserve offers a spot of wilderness in the dense urban mass to the west of Orlando. The trail system loops through many of the major habitats found in this region, including longleaf pine forest and scrub, bayhead swamp and cypress-lined lakeshore. These are gentle interpretive walks. Open part of the week Wednesday-Sunday 8 am-6 pm. No Dogs or Bikes Allowed.

The parking is spread out in a circle but plenty of it.

8777 County Road 535, Orlando, FL 32836 (407) 876-6696

From I-4 exit 68, drive north on SR 535, passing the entrance to Walt Disney World at the first light before you turn left at the second light onto CR 535. Drive 5.3 miles to the park entrance on the right. The entrance road loops around to parking in front of the environmental center.

tibet-butler is beautiful, but get in and out early to avoid crazy amounts of families and children. The upper trails are very wet and have flooded sections right now. bring boots and be careful on the sloped sections of boardwalks, esp if your boots are wet.

this is a good trail for bird watching, the trail has a lake with a big deck for more bird and wildlife watching, there is a museum type thing at the entrance of the park with history of the area and presentation of some of the wildlife there. its a very popular area and very crowded

Really a nice walk! Headed out at noon so I was prepared for it to be HOT! But luckily it is fall in Florida so only 92 degrees with relatively (for Florida) low humidity! Easy hike with elseveral boardealks! I’ll do it again! Restrooms at visitor center! Bring water and a hat!

Well-maintained trail with lots of different paths. Great for beginners and hikers of all skill levels. Due to Hurricane Irma and other natural conditions, the Palmetto Passage was closed off; however, the remaining trails have a lot to offer. Our only recommendations are to bring extra water due to the Florida heat and water proof shoes.

Nice trail, some shade but mostly sunny, easy, for all levels, bring proper shoes because for sure your feet will get wet. Unfortunately didn't see any wildlife but I heard some!

Easy walking trail. Good for when you’d like to explore nature instead of the theme parks.

These trails offer a nice break from the busyness of Orlando. Check trail conditions before heading out because they seem to flood often.

Surprised to find a nice hike so close to Orlando. There was some water on the trail in spots that we walked around but that happens when it rains in Florida. One trail was closed but we knew that ahead of time from their website. The boardwalk over the swampy area is well maintained. It was nice they had clean bathrooms and free parking.

Nice getaway if you’re in Disney area looking for relief from the madness. The trails can be muddy and closed, even in winter/dry season. Call the Preserve in advance and check on the status of the trails.

This trail (& the palmetto trail) are part of a nature preserve - as such, be aware of the hours the preserve is open. These trails are very well-maintained - a mixture of grass, sand (packed down, won’t get in your shoes), and typical trail underfoot. Prone to flooding- bc of this the palmetto trail was closed today - which really limits the distance for your run (unless you want to run several loops). Great “in the middle of nowhere” feel just miles from the bustle of Disney

We were really disappointed. 95% of the trails are under water; ranging in depth from the top of your foot up to your shin. There was zero information posted about the trail conditions and had we known this, we’d probably have been in more appropriate (waterproof) footwear and not just sneakers. This made for a very unenjoyable hike and when we found that the trail was converted enough to not see it, turn around and left. I would. It hike this trail surfing rainy season. We may try again but our experience today was not good. Also, one of the trails is completely closed.

Extremely well-maintained and family-oriented. This is the type of serene, scenic trail I have been looking for in the area and I absolutely loved it. The signage is great and the visitor center is informative. Excellent trails, we will definitely be back.

I brought my family on this trail with me when I was visiting them in Orlando. They don't hike but enjoyed this trail. It's very beautiful and well-taken care of. lovely view of the lake and a nice get-away from the tourism vibe. We went in December and it was perfect weather to be in the woods.
