If you’re training for a tough mudder, this is your trail. I don’t mind running through mud or streams, but stagnant swamp water completely covering the trail is not ideal. A couple bucks entry on the honor system means the park has no operating funds (saw a half dozen people all just walk on in without paying today), so I’m not too surprised. Despite that, somehow they are managing to do work and add new trails that are ever so slightly less underwater. Unfortunately they are not always well marked and I ended up going the wrong way in a couple places. But where the trail isn’t submerged, it’s in great shape! The views are nice enough—not really anything noteworthy. Overall, didn’t have a very positive experience.

a little rough in the beginning churned up muddy path, but still passable. We took a slight detour and walked along the beach very peaceful.

I pushed my son in a job stroller. the first mile or two sucked it's boggy from machinery... the rest was excellent!

BEWARE: They are SUPER serious about locking the gates on time. Make sure you time your hike out well.

Also, if it’s been super rainy for a while, a lot of the trail will be impossible to get through, right in the beginning.

It is otherwise one of my favorite trails.

Not bad at all. It's actually pretty nice. $3 to enter. Ensure you go when it's dry. Trail is not marked good at all.

Starts out a nice trail but during the summer it's very humid. after raining it has many large puddles making it hard to follow the trail.

Did this one last year. Waited a few days after it rained but much of it was still wet with large pools of water. Some parts of the trail can get confusing because some of the trail markers are covered in brush making it difficult especially when there are two paths to take. Because of the humidity and bugs I'd suggest waiting until winter for this one.

Beautiful, easy trail. Enjoyed the solitude of a scenic lunch at the point watching osprey dive for fish.

The portion of the trail I went to was labeled "Tarkin Bayou Preserve. It was $3 just to park there. The longer portion of the trail wasn't maintained well (flooded in several areas, ruts). Pretty but not worth $3 in my humble opinion.

great day hike, takes you out to a point that is beach and ocean. it does loop as long on you ver to the right going back toward the parking area. some tall grass, nothing crazy but it is a nice option versus the out & back on same trail.

Did some geocaching and biking. A portion of the 5.9 trail is clearly defined. The second part of the loop has not been cut in a while. Used Garmin along the trail. Some very sandy areas. Over all beautiful area with water views.

The trail that takes you to the lake is okay but we tried to do one of the long hikes but ran into knee high grass for about half a mile before we turned around. They need to maintain the trails better, I'm not trying to step on snakes!
