Orlando Wetlands Loop Trail is a 4 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Christmas, Florida that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from February until November. Horses are also able to use this trail.
The Wetlands Park is great to place to come out, relax and enjoy nature. The Park is not open to vehicular traffic. The most popular activities are bird-watching, nature photography, jogging and bicycling. Nature enthusiasts will be greeted by 1,650 acres of hardwood hammocks, marshes and lakes. There are over 20 miles of roads and woodland trails crisscrossing the Park. Dogs are not permitted at the Orlando Wetlands Park.
Beautiful park! It is all out in the open though, so be sure to wear sunscreen. I spent 4 hours walking around out there yesterday and loved it. Will definitely be back. Beautiful views and lots of wildlife.
Excellent trails for biking & walking. A favorite in all of central FL with. plenty of pics to be taken.
NO LONGER CLOSED Nov to January - this changed in 2016.
What an amazing park! We biked the roads (berms around the ponds), on our hybrid bikes, the northwest corner is the most difficult to bike with some overgrown roads. Its also the least scenic, so just stick with the main loop and be amazed. We were there in June and the number of birds were amazing. Cant wait to go back in winter when all the migrants are down.
Take lots of water as there is little shade
Make sure you go to the Overlook - a large dirt mound and from the top you can see 360 view of the park. What a gem of a park.
Lots of gators and fish if you get to the bridge. Also make sure you go up the big hill beautiful view.
Many alligators and birds. There are two eagles, but I did not see them. Loved the wildlife.
had great time saw lots of birds alligators and snakes. Ps saved my wife's life she didn't see the rattle snake on the path but I stopped her before she got too close. keep ur eyes open.
Easy and enjoyable but should have a warning no shade do not take this hike ion hot summer days. Saw otters gators raccoons
Tranquil and scenic. Lots of wildlife.
This has to be one of my favorite hiking places here in Central FL! It's absolutely packed with wildlife of all kinds that don't mind you being there and will go on with their daily chores right in front of you! Beautiful landscape that really shows the awesome side of natural Florida. However, it is not for those that are afraid of gators, snakes, or other wildlife. You will see them, and during the warm steamy mornings there will be plenty of them out to greet on the walkways as they warm up for the day. So keep that mind if you're not looking to get up close and personal with Florida's wildlife. Get to know your FL snakes beforehand, we've come in contact with both harmless and venomous types. Respect their space and they will mind their own. We tread lightly and have never had an issue with any animals. No pets allowed, obviously... way too many gators and snakes that may not enjoy fido in their habitat. But, plenty of people go out with horses and bikes. Everyone is very polite and it's never all that crowded out there. It's a fantastic place for nature photography folks. The walkways are fairly hard packed sand, very solid and easy to walk on, and there's a few nice little sitting areas to take a rest before continuing on the trails. Not too much tree coverage, so bringing a good amount of water, sunblock, light clothes, and a hat/sunglasses are a must. Lots of shortcuts available if you're only looking to be out there for a little bit, or you can hike around the entire area and spend the day out there. It's worth it!
One of my favorite nature parks, lots of wild life. Bring a camera, I always do.
We've been out there a few times now; one of the times with our bikes. Great for walking or biking. Lots of birds to see, as well as alligators and on our last visit we saw a deer. Recommend.
its a great natural area with tons of wildlife
Nice dirt service roads for a easy ride, great hiking. Lots of wild life.
Went there for a photography class. Very nice
Currently closed until February. But there is Fort Christmas on the same road to the wetlands which is definitly worth checking out. A lot of History on Orlando and great place to have a pick nic and bring te kids!
