The mountain bike trail is not the hiking trail. You are not allowed on it unless it is to bike. The walking trail is ok.

Great trails. I’ve ridden at other parks in the area, and Markham Park is by far the best.

There is a small nature trail and you can also walk around the lake and park, very nice place for a leisurely hike

Nice trail. I usually ride it about two days after a rain since it can get dry at times.

Definitely worth the drive form Fort Myers. Came over to ride with a friend and it was more than expected! Trails are well maintained and there is something for everyone!

Ridiculously good trails! I'm a beginner, so it was great to be able to find trails that are on my level, but also harder trails to challenge myself to improve my riding skills! I'm much more experienced just by spending a few hours here!

Markham Park back in the 90's was a deathwish of a trail due to its technical sections and the ability to detect if your conscious thought its trails were simple. Yes Markham punished you and did not have any mercy back then. (actually still doesn't) Fast forward from fully rigid mtb with canti brakes to 29'er and 27.5 with suspension today and it is now a more pleasurable ride with flowy trails along with sprinkles of technically challenging trails and easy trails for those learning the ropes or someone wanting a warmup or cool down ride. Trail Builders and volunteers have made trail accommodations to keep the old skool peeps coming back yet inviting enough to attract beginners to the easier green trails and now the fortunate enough ones to ride a trike despite their handicap/s via the newly added "Adaptive Trails". (Orange)
Markham is the undisputed benchmark of all trail systems in South Florida and if you master it without dabbing you are very well trained to ride any trail anywhere you travel to outside of SoFlo.
Hats off to the TB and Volunteers for keeping the trails interesting throughout the last 20ish years.
For out-of-towners this is what you can expect when visiting Markham Park:
Clean-well groomed trails with challenging steep lung busting climbs, super hard-packed, fast flowy berms, jumps scattered throughout the trails with option to bypass if you're not confident with throwing your rubbers in the air, kid friendly green trails, and expert double black and double red diamond trails if you're looking for a great workout/challenge. If you're serious about hucking your bike in the air there is a Pro-Expert section, Area 51, that will keep you grinning for days.
Fair warning - bring $5 for one-day trail access card or $25 for annual pass. You may not enter trails without one just like a helmet. And if you are not pedaling hard enough and need some motivation just go near Gun Range trails. The shots will have you thinking you are being hunted for your bike and will have you pedaling like you stole it! (No riders have ever been harmed by any bullets from the range so rest assured your safety is always priority #1 with Markham staff and volunteers)
Ride On!!

WOW, what an amazing place to ride. A must do for Florida mountain bikers...right up there with Alafia. I stayed on the beginner & intermediate trails at first, then moved up to varsity level my butt kicked in some sections, but loved every minute of it.

Love this park! Plenty of places to ride for the expert of novice. Huge drops, big hills, obstacles, planks... This park has it all. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

Markham will always be a new experience even if you have ridden here in the past and went somewhere else for a while and then came back. The trails are built to evolve and while erosion is the basis for most of the trail work done there it is also embraced to make new features or make the trail flow better than when it was new or changed last. That is why I love Markham because it is always evolving and becoming better. Note that Markham is the first park that I know of that has developed an exclusive trail for the physically handicapped. It is the Adaptive Mountain Bike Trail and it is presently about 4 miles long. Those trails are separate from the other trails and all are 48" wide and have been groomed to accommodate flow, climbing and cornering with AMTB bikes in mind. The feed back from the test riders are very good and there are more of these trails on the way. In time there will be some AMTB racing and a little news media to get the word out about these trails.

It is not until you hit Markham most technical sections, that you think all other South FL local trails are though. This park has no equal! Insane double reds that kick your behind, the uphills on Outback are comparable to the bigger trails up north (Alafia for example) Gun Range is your death wish, Rock Garden is so annoyingly rocky and rooted then followed by fun roller coaster curvy downs, las Olas is fun and twisty... Man oh man, every single section of Markham is like a dream come true!!! Best park down here, bar none. If you're starting I recommend staying away from the double-reds... Ah what the hell, hit it all and if you find something you can't do just walk it! Ain't nobody got time to be afraid of some baby trails!!!! Lol

In all seriousness, Markham is the best, for all riders of all skill levels.
