It’s a great trail once you find the right one! It’s a bit confusing from the parking lot, however it’s well marked once it’s found! There is plenty of road noise, but it’s by I75. Beautiful woods and a little bit of topography.
A great there and back. Don’t let A full parking lot scare you off, most of those are bikers for the biking trail. Quiet, well blazed, and hilly for the region. Taken as a there-and-back with Land Bridge Trailhead.
Fun hills! Peaceful. Friendly riders. Serene. Definitely don't feel like you are in Florida.
A lot of open spaces, not good in the heat. Better during cooler weather.
Beautiful long scenic trail with some scenery changes. If you're starting at the 49th Ave trailhead by Marion Oaks you take the foot trail then once you reach the Land Bridge sign you cross the little paved road to your left on to the sandy horse trail. DO NOT go straight as there are some seriously thorny flowers that will embed themselves in your skin and they can rip jeans. The flowers are also eye level with kids and dogs.
My 2 year old Dalmatian and I hiked this section of the FT on 4/19 at about 7am. Parking lot was easy to find and there was tons of parking. Getting on the hiking trail to the FT was fairly simple as long as you read the signs. I read about the trail before hiking and had a pretty good sense of where I was going. The hike itself was beautiful. Easy to navigate but enjoyable to hike. A lot of fun terrain but not too much where I wasn’t comfortable with my dog. I wouldn’t recommend this section to anyone with physical limitations. The Land Bridge is obviously super cool. Absolutely would recommend this hike! Finished the hike at 5.3 miles in 2 hours and 20 minutes.
