The trails here are nice and well-kept but are obviously not the main event. This free attraction is a great way to see manatees (go during a colder day and you may see over a hundred) without directly intruding into their habitat. The nature trails and visitor center make this an attraction that can take up a couple hours of your time if you see all there is to see. True, you mostly see their backs sticking out of the water, but on occasion one of then will turn over to give you a better look. I had low expectations coming in but came away impressed.

I did a last minute stop here to see the manatees on a chilly day after some hiking nearby. There were lots of manatees to see, but they were kinda far from the viewing platform, so you really only saw "bumps" in the water, unless they came up for air, which wasn't often. Parking is a major headache. if you're in the area, and it's a cold Florida day, go early. Otherwise, meh, I wouldn't bother.

Because the trail is secondary to the manatee viewing center, you will often face parking problems since there are often not enough spaces for the number of visitors. A positive is there are 2-3 electric car charging stations (which I think are provided free by the electric company) that I've never seen used. So, a big bonus for EV owners. The trails are wide and well maintained and mostly a combination of crushed shells and a long boardwalk which terminates in an observation tower. I'd estimate only about a fifth of the trail has any shade so be aware of that and use sunscreen, wear a hat, and bring water. The biggest problem is it's only open half the year. I realize that's due to the manatee viewing center but it's a shame they don't make provisions for people to enjoy the trail more of the year.

My kids & I loved this little walk. They really enjoyed the tower over looking the bay.

Went to see Manatee's, found TRAILS on south side of property. The "Green and Yellow" trails go to a 50 foot tall observation tower, both are .71 miles long. The "Orange" trail is also a overflow parking lot access. ONLY open November 1 to April 15
