Nice quiet trail! Saw lots of birds, butterflies and even some small gators. There is no soft sand on this trail which is nice since most the other hiking trails in JD consist of mostly soft sand. It’s a 7 mile loop but there’s plenty of trails leading off this trail so you can easily add more miles. I hiked 10 miles. I went past the kitching creek primitive campsite which had picnic tables and firepits. There were no flooded areas on the entire trail. It would be a good trail to bike as well. I’d come back to this trail :)

Flat and easy, this trail is great in the winter for families and pets. It has densse vegetation with tall pines towering overhead. Trails are wide and level. We didn't see much flooding or wildlife. There were no bugs at this time of year.

Great hike searching for the elusive steam engine. Turned around due to the time.

This trail was kind of monotonous - the views didn’t change much the whole way. The straight part of this lollipop trail was in good shape - pretty dry. The loop at the end was not maintained - long grass, deep ruts - not great. There was only one short area on the loop portion that was flooded. You could go around it in ankle deep water or through it in knee deep water. My tracking gave me 7.6 miles as I started it when I left my campsite at the River Campground.

Good trail. They’ve created a bypass to route around some flooding, and some wood structures that need repairs. Just a little wet in places, but passable. Nice trail, not much shade. Enjoyable hike!
