Wide flat paved trail. Kinda feels like you’re walking along an alley for majority of trail, but lots of waterfowl.

The trailhead was at a skating rink parking lot where there were signs that parking was for the skating patrons only, others would be towed. We did not leave our car there or start the trail.

A pleasant walk. Roughly 50% shade. If you do the boardwalk side trip watch your footing as it is slippery if damp. Resist the temptation to take the side trail to Wirtz (?) Park (90% sun, involves crossing 436 and is rather nondescript).

Another great Seminole County walk. Fully paved and not crowded. There is a nice little boardwalk through Kewanee Park that ends with a lake view. Taking the boardwalk (as shown in my recording) adds about .5 miles to the walk. Also, there is a spot to connect to the Wirz trail which would double the distance on this trail.

Nice trail. Better in the morning as there is more shade. I walked to the end and a few little side areas and walked 3.2 miles.

30/70 shade I would say. Friendly people. Early ish morning is the beat time I think. Turtles. Bring 2-3 bucks if you need water. Wawa at the beginning and end. Time flies. Never too busy. Bike riders are hit or miss, but all very kind.

Cool and breezy this morning. Walked some of the trail towards Wirz Park, enough to know it's not as pretty a trail as the main Kewanee Trail. If you walk the trail, you ought to take the boardwalk through the park. It's very pretty.

Pretty trail. This time I walked to the end by the bowling alley, crossed the road and walked around a small pond bordering an apartment complex.

First to Review

This is a very pretty community trail ideally situated for biking, dog walking, and exercising. The best parking to access the trail is at Kewannee Park, which has a half-mile nature loop with boardwalk. The park looks promising for birding and viewing wildlife as well.
