Good day trail. I suggest going in at the North entrance since that is where you pay and park ($2 per person). Wear proper shoes because tennis shoes might not cut it with all the water run off. Follow the white marks. Trail head is right of the bathrooms.

This is a good trail for walking alone. The path is really only wide enough for one at a time and it’s very overgrown. A few muddy spots but a good walk overall. We saw 2 snakes today!

We picked this trail because we wanted something dog friendly. The trailhead is directly across from the campground host spot. If someone else had not commented on that, we probably wouldn't have found it. The trail can be a little hard to follow because it's not super clear at the campground areas which way to go. I think the trail is still under construction but overall, it was a great little hike. Wear shoes U dont mind getting a bit muddy. Lots of benches to sit at if needed. Had shade over head. We enjoyed it. We went in mid March. Trail ($2 fee per person) nor campground ($15 a night with advanced reservation. Sites have water/power, and a dump starion) was busy. Plenty of parking and a public boat ramp if U wanted to make a whole day or weekend out of it.

Amazing walk with my 74 year old mom. She had to take breaks along the way - only 1 or 2 but with plenty of Boy Scout benches to rest for a minute. Mostly shaded and breezy. One or two places with full sun but amazing in February.

We went on Veterans Day weekend 2018 and Karrick Lake has been drained and is undergoing major renovation. Trail is not clearly marked and campground hosts were not knowledgeable about it.

The lake has been drained. Dead fish everywhere. Also the path is very open and not in very much in nature

Nice well kept trail. An enjoyable hike.

Well unfortunately the lake has been drained as of my last visit. There is a sign that says starting July ‘17 the lake will be drained in order to make improvements for fishing, and the work would start this winter. So I wouldn’t expect to find water here until Spring or summer of ‘17. No fishing allowed until at least ‘19. Regardless, it’s still a pretty little hike through the woods. The drained lake is slightly depressing, but other than that it’s nice.

The Karick lake loop leads to the Red Bottom Trail which in turn links to the Florida Trail running along the Blackwater River. Lots of changes from long leaf pine forests to pristine white sand beaches. My friend and I did this in December almost 16 miles. In hunting season might want to wear orange. Lots of whitetail deer. Very fun hike.

This is a perfect 3.8 mile loop trail for both adults and kids (8 and up). Hike around a 65 acre lake thru long leaf pine uplands. Yaupon holly and gallberry line a well mowed trail. This trail is maintained by the state forestry department. There are clean restrooms at the south and north campground. There are no fees to walk this trail. Wooden picnic tables are spaced along the lake shore. Hikers can do this loop as many times as they wish to log their desired distance. Gently rolling hills.
