Indrio Scrub Preserve Loop is a 0.4 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Fort Pierce, Florida that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching.
This trail is fairly short, however when helping younger kids get outdoors and learn to enjoy hiking, these types are perfect. It’s shrubby enough to give the kids a taste of more “wild” trails (no wooden walkways, restrooms, etc) but short enough to where they don’t get bored. There’s a really cool tree trunk towards the middle that they loved. Plus if you head down old Dixie towards Vero, this puts you out right next to a 7-Eleven for Slurpees! A great way to end a hike with kids. Most of the trail has shade (towards the middle and end) and they love looking for the markers. During the summer, there a quite a few mosquitoes so be prepared. During the 3 days of “winter” we get, the trail is very comfortable for a short walk with very little bugs.
rather short uneventful hike lots of markers on their local flora and fauna did not see any wildlife but did hear some
