Ichetucknee Springs Paddle is a 3.2 mile moderately trafficked point-to-point trail located near River Run Campground, Florida that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round.
Ichetucknee is a Florida landmark. Stunning beauty here and still mostly wild. During the summer months tubers own it, there are tube rentals along the drive to the park, a shuttle/tram to move folks back uphill and of course regulations and signage. The park service limits the number of tubers to 750 per day and paddlers are required to 'give way' to them. The outfitter (Ichetucknee Family Canoe and Cabins) is located just beyond the north entrance to the park, nice place with helpful staff and a store. There are plenty of critters to see even deer crossing the river and in the woods. Scenery changes often and there are many places to explore.
The day we ran this beautiful river was a very high water day. Displaced snakes were everywhere, hanging from tree limbs mostly. By the time we got down to the take out point the park had already shut the river down due to the snakes. Aside from the need to keep watch, it was a pleasant trip down the spring fed river. The water is crystal clear. Normally there would be a lot of tubes and canoes on the river, but we had it to ourselves that day.
