Trail has lots of shade, which is a mixed blessing. The mosquitoes are downright aggressive in the shade. The trail is pretty clear, not a lot of roots or pooled water. There are also a few benches along the way for taking a break. Trail is clearly marked.

lots of shade on the first part with boardwalk sections and water.. at the end the trail becomes wilder with flooding..alsp do the loop around the lake!

Great 4 mile hike and pretty easy. In and out of shaded parts the whole trail which was nice with the sun and heat. Will do again

Great trail for a local afternoon get out! This time of year, 87 as a high with a slight breeze. Nice.

Nice getaway hike through the hammocks and marshes or the preserve.

We started at Grassy Waters but didn’t realize it’s boardwalk only. Grabbed a brochure at the nature center and set off! Hog Hammock is actually across the street. We lucked out with a cold front, no bugs at all. Easy biking for kids with minimal roots. Love this trail! Lots of benches along the way, and signs with educational info. It’s total just under 5 mi, 2.8 + 1.1 optional trail at the end. Will be back for a trail run and picnic after!

It was a nice trail, but flooded for most of the hike. Planning on visiting again in the dryer months and actually completing it! We went hiking, but we saw a few bikers, who were respectful of us, which helped make for a great experience. I wish I could give this a higher rating, but we only made it about halfway through.

Another reviewer on here stated that it's a 2 mile loop, but I want to clairfy the loop is 2.8 miles, but the dead end stretch at the end is 1.1 miles out and then back again, making the trail over 5 miles. Had a great time nonetheless.

The Hog Hammock trail is a 2 mile loop. Almost entire trail is shaded with tall trees. In a couple of places along the trail, there were small pools of water due to rain but we were able to get around it easily. There are two resting huts along the way. Overall an easy hike.

Flat, out and back trail and loop. Good place to get a little exercise. Abundant shade. Some places for birdwatching. Much of the trail is framed on either side with pretty high saw palmettos and bushes. Bring bug spray. I saw maybe a handful of people out there on a Monday morning. Not crowded at all.
