Half Moon Wildlife Management White and Blue Loops is a 6.9 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Inverness, Florida that features a great forest setting and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and mountain biking.
Nice easy walk. Trail was soft sand most of the way in pine forest. We followed the yellow trail blazers.
I took my bike on what's supposed to be a horse or hiking trail so the writing was kind of rough which was perfect because I'm getting back in shape and it worked well for me. There was some Sandy spots I couldn't ride through but the trail was well marked and it was a nice quiet ride.
I wish I would have discovered this wildlife Management area years ago. on Christmas day I took my dog out and my very first 5 minutes we saw a rattlesnake a dough a cardinal and many many finches and squirrels. it is absolutely peaceful if you want silence or the sound of only nature a place to clear your head to absorb all of God's greatness this is it. the oak trees are enormous and beautiful you can tell they are full of life. everything seemed Fuller and more of life than the average daily walk. maybe it was because it was Christmas day and I felt so full of joy but I highly recommend this park to anybody. there are several trails to choose from my dog and I ended up walking two trails for a total of six miles make sure you bring water.
This is a ride to the boardwalk, pendarvis road, blue trail.
Entered the yellow trail from the west, all sugar sand, very hard to trudge through, no shade. Got about 1 mile in and had to turn back due to a algae-ridden pond that made it impossible to get to the other side of trail. Would not recommend the yellow trail for hiking.
Long, well maintained, trails for hiking and horseback riding. Hiked the yellow, blue, and white trails. I wouldn't recommend the yellow as the horses really tear up the trail and make it hard to walk. Blue and white are great with lots of markers that are easy to follow. The rangers station in the middle of all the trails is really nice with a bathroom and covered pavilion.
Hiked the Yellow/White/Blue/Yellow trails that ended up at 7.13 Miles. Parts of the trail were under water but it only took a few feet of detour to make it past the submerged spots. Horse flies were prevalent throughout, but it turns out the TICKS were worse. We had 16 between us that we removed. Trail was well marked and easy to navigate. Saw plenty of wildlife.. wild hogs, snakes, turtles, sand hill cranes, cattle, armadillos. Took us 3hrs and 46 seconds at a slow pace taking plenty of pictures.
very wet on blue and white loops.
