Gores Landing Wildlife Management Area Trail is a 2.7 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Fort Mc Coy, Florida that features a river. The trail is good for all skill levels and is primarily used for hiking and bird watching. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
One of the trails to the river finally dried enough to be passable. (April 4 2021.) The second trail to the river was too flooded, so this recording shows some other trails I tried while I was here. Very nice!
Wide open "trail" but really a service road. Pretty but some water to traverse... the end of the trail was completely flooded so we took a different route (service road) until that, too, was flooded. Pretty area and would love to return and see the trail through to the river.
trail was good but a little flooded. my recording brings you around some of the bigger puddles
Easy trail and dog friendly!! Is well maintained. Only issue we had was thinking we were on trail and looking at GPS and seeing some how we were a 1/2 a mile off. Could be phone GPS, anyway back tracked, never found trail to River/ stream, but got back on trail to return!! Lots of fun and saw several different animal tracks
I love this trail in the winter. Great side trails with views of the Ocklawaha River. Today’s hike was in July. Please note that even after a few days of dry weather, trails leading to the river are flooded. If you try to access, I recommend boots that are knee-high.
