Geneva Wilderness Area Loop is a 1.6 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Geneva, Florida that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking, running, and mountain biking and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Please note that this area can get flooded out after rains. Please check with the Little Big Econ State Forest before visiting.
A little more than halfway though, the path was flooded so I had to turn around.
Took my parents & our two dogs out here today & were so unfortunately not able to finish the full loop due to coming across a family that was rude & defensive when we pointed out as well as asked that they put their very large dogs on leashes, as all dogs are required to be wearing leashes while out on trails they are permitted to be on (they said they had leashes.. yet refused to use them). PLEASE remember to respect your fellow hikers, respect the outdoors, and respect the rules and laws to upkeep these trails and the safety of yourself and others. We all deserve to enjoy the trails. Was a much more crowded and trafficked day than usual. Otherwise, one of my favorite trails tucked away in Geneva.
Nice area, not too highly trafficked. A little wet out right now.
PERFECT DAY! Could not have asked for a better experience. My dog & I had a great time on the trail. Narrow and covered in some spots then wide open and zero shade in others. Gets muddy in some parts but nothing you shouldn’t expect on a Florida trail. Very well kept. Awesome campsite. We had the whole trail to ourselves and it was great weather, which always helps.
Surprised at how much standing water there was on the trails especially since it hasn't rained in a while.
Beautiful trail, only the water was so high that our over the ankle boots were not high enough. And we did not want to get soaked feet again, after having waded on two trails earlier this week. We need to be prepared and get ourselves a pair of tall rubber wellies ;-) Cheers ! Pat Marcel
Great trail- would love to come back again when it is not flooded. The fishing pier was completely submerged. When we got to G7 on the trail it was submerged up to our ankles and we tried to press on through but when it got up to our calves we decided to turn around. With lakes on either side of the trail we didn’t feel safe passing through. Nice foliage.
Mostly open and very hot but everything was well marked. This connects to the Flagler Trail a little bit further out and Little Big Econ State Forest as well (arrows and good signage will point you in the right direction). As of 8/15/20 there’s one extremely wet stretch on the west side of the loop but I made it through in waterproof high tops without a problem. It's really not that long and pretty much everything was dry after that. There’s another wet area on the east side but it appeared to be smaller and was easy to maneuver around. Portions of this trail are very sandy too, typical of Florida scrub.
the Geneva Loop Trail is nice but there is a lot of loose sand and little shade, especially for the connector trail. The lakes, fishing pier and Flagler Trail are beautiful though.
entered the loop via the Flagler and the Geneva Wilderness trailhead. The entry added a mile to the lollipop stick verses the Barr entry. The stick was not especially amusing with the exception of a stop at the chapel. Very high and dry the entire trip with the river being the lowest I have seen in some time. In short the loop is always great, this entry was not as amusing as via Barr Street trailhead.
Typical Seminole county trail. Sandy with muddy sections. There’s a nice fishing pier where you can look down in the water.
Geneva Wilderness Area is a very pretty area that is well-maintained with a variety of trails and habitats. Most of the trails take you through pine flatwoods, but you can also walk through bay swamp habitats. There are three ponds on the property, two of which can become completely dry during certain times of the year, and at other times they may flood some of the trails. When the trails are clear, you can walk to the Florida Trail and connect to all the destinations of the Little Big Econ SF. Since parking is free here, this is one of my favorite locations to walk the entire area.
