This part of the Florida Trail follows along the Suwannee River to the parking area on the Little Shoals Tract. The trail continues along the river until it crosses US 41. From there hikers can cross the Suwannee River to the parking lot at White Springs. This trail section crosses some short stretches of private property but is predominantly on lands of the Suwannee River Water Management District.

Awesome trail. Very shady. Beautiful views of the Suwannee

This is a beautiful section of the Florida trail. Some other runs in the Suwannee/Big Bend section have some better views of the Suwannee, but this section is nice overall because of some variety and SHADE. Well shaded and cool almost the entire trail. The first quarter mile or so could throw you off a little. It skirts behind a field of personal property then is a little overgrown before you cut back to the river. Also, I had some off route notices from All trails, especially through that first piece. But just follow the orange blazes and you can’t go wrong. Also, when you come to the parking area that all trails sends you to for Bell Springs Tract, you can actually go a little farther past the house on the right and there’s another parking area closer to the trail. Lightly trafficked, good for a social distancing hike.

Great trail, reverse and camp behind the waterfall for a great over night experience. Hiking out in the morning w the sun rising over the river is not to be missed

Excellent trail. saw some bear scat but it looked old and other than that no signs of wildlife....other than some spiders. Excellent views of the river! The beginning of the trail threw me off a little. For a few minutes your actually hiking around the edge of someone's property, but your quickly back on the trail. Be mindful of the blazes, it could be easy to wander off trail if you aren't paying attention.

Great day hike. We parked at the bell springs trail head and hiked out to big shoals to set up camp. Great hike on the way out and a neat camping spot next to the rapids. There's a few spots on the marked trail that were flooded out but clear alternatives were available. The next day we back tracked a little and hiked out & back to little shoals from big shoals. Awesome hike! Lots of water crossings feeding the river and great river views. I would absolutely recommend this section of the Forida Trail for a day or two of relaxing hiking. Being on the trail for almost three days, we only ran into 3 other groups, mostly at big shoals as it is a popular spot for canoe or kayakers to stop at avoiding the rapids. Plenty of space for everyone.

Awesome hike today on this trail. Had to do a little blazing to get around some leftover water but no problems. We LOVE this trail and plan to camp near the Rapids sooner than later. We looked at the other camp spots today and they do not compare to the small area near the Rapids. We unfortunately saw no wildlife except for the gazillion rabbits pulling in to park at 6am. Please hit this trail and enjoy, beautiful scenery and Gods work is phenominal.

Great hike along the river, plenty of shade along most of the trail and lots of great places to stop and eat lunch. Definitely bring bug spray though, there were quite a lot of mosquitoes even in the morning when the temperature was lower. We took this trail for IDIDAHIKE 2017 with the Florida Trail Association and finished with a trail through White Springs Tract back to the Stephen Foster Tourist Center for about an 8.5 mile hike.
