Pine Island Trail is a 2.4 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Atlantic Beach, Florida that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
This park is Dutton Island however some maps show it as Pine Island. Pretty muddy after heavy rains but a nice spot on the Intracoastal Waterway. There is a causeway to the island. Fun to bike or hike and east of the island the park has additional trails with a parking area. On the island there is a kayak launch on south and north ends, also fishing on both ends and mid-island on the western side is a platform that is a good spot to watch the sunset. Camp spots can be reserved by calling the City of Atlantic Beach. No hook ups.
Had a great time doing some photography. Beautiful sunset and got some eagle photos
Did this hike with our dogs today. Mosquitoes were rampant but we were lucky to notice early in the hike and ran back to the car for bug spray - we weren't expecting it as it is January and just got below freezing a few days ago. Overall, it was a nice hike, relatively easy terrain but due to the lack of trail makers and many splits in the trail I would give it a higher difficulty rating of moderate. There were a few points of guessing where the trail would pick up after crossing a dirt road.
Loved it. Good ride, various terrain and nice scenery. Be prepared for the yellow flies though.
