This trail is EASY as opposed to moderate! That said, it’s worth it - great views, some shade, & nature/history info. Great for a little hike/exercise, including kids/pets.

Very pretty, well-kept, easy walking trail with a good dose of history. Start by watching the movie at the visitor center and checking out the few exhibits in order to familiarize yourself with what you will see on the trail. Be advised that they will close the gate and lock your car in if you’re parked in the main lot after 5 pm, so be sure to start your walk with plenty of time or park outside the gates if you’re here close to closing time.

Never been here before but the temperature was only supposed to reach a high of 64 today so I decided to get out of the house and enjoy the weather while I could. This is a beautiful trail that explores Ancient Florida. The trail was a little damp in places but not wet enough to discourage use. However, the boardwalk is still under construction after being damaged during a recent hurricane. Unfortunately, there is no date set for a reopening. The park service has since rerouted the hiking trail in the mean time. I would come here again considering that December through April the park service has the settlement open and full of re-enactments.

Nice water scenes. A portion of the trail is closed for rebuilding the boardwalk. It runs thru a mangrove swamp. Be aware of when the high tide is, a portion will be underwater a little bit.

Family friendly. Big wheeled stroller would work if child gets tired easily or is not yet a good walker. Birds and lizards abound. Even saw a few crabs. Bugs also abound, use repellent and netting as appropriate.

A trail with parts boardwalk, white sand, and dirt path make up this loop on the De Soto National Monument. A pleasant walk along the beach followed by a walk through dense mangroves (complete with cutouts of De Soto's army) made this loop consistantly interesting.

Flat dog walking trail. I can't see why this would be rated moderate. some of it is in a parking lot. It's Florida so it can be hot and buggy. It's only 1 mile with an option to cut it in half to a half mile.

Nice breeze during the summer, lots of shade and pretty river views, great to stop and wade in the river when it gets too hot. Very dog friendly.

Desoto is a great hiking spot, which also has a guided history lesson. The hiking path is both shell and boardwalk and is mostly shaded with mangroves and other trees. It usually is not too crowded unless they have a special event going on. Desoto is dog-friendly and also has places to swim and fish.

Beautiful place to walk your dog, lots of wonderful things to see and learn about this historical place. Beaches are pretty with clean rest areas. Picnic tables and park benches to take a break as well. Totally recommended for anyone wanting to see some of Floridas history & beauty.
