HikingGreat!

I hike the west end of this loop on a regular basis. Beautiful, mossy oak hammocks wrap around the prairies on well maintained and marked trails. Only birds and squirrels, but today heard an owl.

Great trail, even though is Florida, it has some good changes in elevation. Beautiful boulders along some areas that look perfect to spend a night in not to far off trail. Numerous water sources, some places had the horse poop smell that would linger for a while but tolerable. Nice open areas in some spots where you can stargaze a little if you take the time.. we had great weather all along and even though we did a night hike, we still found our way with no problems, except one are thats a crossing with the horse trail and it may get confusing at night, im sure is easier during day.. Loved it, hope to continue more sections.

Awesome trail! I did some of the blue trail, FT and ended the hike back on blue trail. Overgrown in some parts. I only saw 3 other people on the trail and a lot of people biking!

This was a really nice trail. It is combination hiking, biking trail. Part of it is horse trail. We met three horses and several bikes. It is not a typical flat Florida trail. There is a lot of elevation change and part of the trail is "extra burn".,which must be bike thing ,but as a 69 year old hiker I think it definitely deserves the moniker. Anyway it wore us out but it was good . It started to rain about two miles from the finish, which was a gift from heaven.

Great change of pace hiking as there’s lots of elevation changes in and out of the dig of the Florida barge canal. Can be busier on weekends with quite a few mountain bikers from the Ocala mountain bike club.

Trail was nice and easy. we got to a point a little over a mile in and the marsh/swamp was full of water. we could not cross live to fully complete the loop trail. We are disappointed with that, but enjoyed the past out the trail we were able to hike.

Well marked, not a lot of bugs, we didn't see much wildlife but we had a 3 year old and a puppy, it was also mid day.

Horseback riding

the Ross Prairie horseback riding trails are varied. They have a carriage Trail. a red Trail which has a more difficult terrain, it is near the digs. There are other Trails that intersect so you can try them out and go many times with out riding the same Loop every time. There is fresh water for the horses and a wash rack to tie them to rinse them off. Plenty of parking for trucks and horse trailers.

Nice, shaded easy, narrow, loop hike. Minimal elevation, slash pine, sand dunes and lots of banana spiders. Also beginning of trail (approximately 1 mile) is shared with trail bicyclists.

I love this trail! Have done it a few times. Quiet and s serene. At one point you see a huge sand dune and sandy beach minus the water (lol). lots of Natural Florida Scenery too look at. ..... this was a great hike!
