This trail starts off shared with the moonshine creek trail and is forested with pine and oak. You then hike into the ravine where you will see hickory, gum, and magnolia trees. There are sinkholes throughout. The trail then continues past the swamp and bottomland forest. Here is where the creek water enters the underground aquifer, creating a unique ecosystem. Park has $4 per vehicle and $2 per extra passenger charge. Pay on the honor system, exact cash is required.

One of my favorite trails in Gainesville. Some elevation, winding, a few ponds, and lots of peace and quiet.

Very nice trail. It seems popular but everyone was well spaced out and had dogs on leash. Neat terrain, a little up and down. Nice and shady.

Really fun family hike with a 10 & 6 year old. Some elevation changes, nothing crazy. Very scenic. Will do this trail again. One of our favorite in Gainesville.

This trail is incredibly beautiful! Fully shaded and cool, plus there are quite a few small changes in elevation. It’s great for a cardio walk.

A nice little trail that’s dog friendly. It was moderately trafficked and you could hear some sounds from the roads nearby. It was pretty easy to navigate too.

Nice trail. Winding path with broad views. Some beautiful trees. Small ponds and creek. Saw one dear. Not terribly remote or secluded, could hear faint road noise for much of the hike. Saw a couple other people with their dogs. Nice quick trail without having to get too far out of town.

Only the second time I’ve been hiking in my life. The first being the shorter trail here. But this one was defiantly easy. Was me my girlfriend and her dog and we finished the trail in an hour stopping along the way for him to have some water. Everyone we met was friendly. Defiantly recommend this trail to someone just staring out!

Super swampy at back end trail under water

I loved the exposed roots and vines throughout. They were used as stairs up and down the trail. The creeks and small bridges are beautiful. Very shaded throughout and clean.

Fun, lots of twists and turns and a few ways to get lost (or just explore!) Bridges and alternate trails help keep it dry, even during a week of rain.

Would be a nice mountain bike tail if it was aloud.

One of my favorite trails in Gainesville. Stays pretty well maintained. Make sure you get a map because it can get a little confusing without one. Great hammock cover the whole time. Big parking lot but it fills up pretty much every weekend. Lots of groups who do trail running here/use it as a starting point for long distance biking. If you want to go there alone, go on a week day.

My favorite short trail in Gainesville. Well maintained, beautiful changes in scenery (sinkholes, creeks, different types of vegetation as altitude changes around the water), quiet, and good for runners, walkers, dogs, etc.

This park provides an excellent hiking trail for a short stroll through typical north Florida woodland. Peaceful, with very few people. Lots of sinkholes and other interesting natural features to see.
