Getting There

This section offers the paddler the beauty of the Chipola River. Flora and wildlife are abundant and the water is so clear you can see fish swimming. The paddle from Yancey Bridge at HWY 166 to Magnolia Bridge at Hwy 280A is a much better run than the section from Hwy 162. The run from Yancey Bridge is a more popular waterway and there are fewer deadfalls. This area of the Chipola has everything from the low swampy area just below the put in to limestone rocks, high bluffs, and a good size cave system called the Ovens. There is also the opportunity to explore a couple of clear springs and Spring Creek. The run passes Hinson Park, supported by the Chipola Greenway where there is an alternative launch area. Trip time varies depending on how much you play.

There is free parking at the put-in and take-out.
