Second time. Conditioning. Walked ~4 mi with full pack. Saw a big ~8ft alligator. The baby in the pic eating a bird and a another about 5ft. $5 parking helps keep it nice. Lots of flora and fauna.
Paved (yet some areas of pavement were covered with pine needles) and could easily be enjoyed by walking, running, bike, or horse. We walked with two dogs and enjoyed our hike. I did need to pick a tick off of one of the dogs while we were walking (they take oral tick and flea medication regardless) but even though bugs were almost non existent, wear spray to avoid ticks. The trail leads to a pretty lake at the start, but the rest of the trail is pretty plain and nothing exciting. There are also 4 identical abandoned structures that the trail goes between I'm not sure what they are for, but they would make a perfect horror movie location for a slasher film, serial killer bunker, or SAW location...
Nicely paved and plenty of coverage from the sun. Only saw one other group of people when we went so that was nice. Didn’t have an issue with bugs- with the exception of one super exotic, massive, freaky looking bug that looked like it belonged deep in the amazon jungle that landed on my leg. That was traumatizing. Other than that the hike was nice and a good distance as well. Nice little find.
July 7:30am. Nice hike. I circled the pond a couple of times. Lots of birds, some deer. Bug spray worked well
It's not a terrible trail, it's just not much of a hike. The trail is paved for the first few miles and where it isn't paved it's mostly broad graded fire road. There's very little shade and it's mostly like walking down a rural road. Bring bug repellent. THERE ARE A LOT OF TICKS. If I come back I'd rather bring my bike and ride the roads than hike it
