Nice old growth and shade. saw a coral snake and a small gopher tortoise. muddy in spots but better than a slog through the pine plantations..jan 24th.

One of the better trails in the area. The actual trailhead is just outside the entrance to the state park but there’s not much parking there. In mid January it was a little muddy in spots but nothing too bad. It is in a low lying area though so expect a lot of water and a lot more mud in the rainy season. The entire trail is shaded though. This also connects to the trail coming up from the Fairchild Oak and my recording includes the Boardman Pond Overlook so I ended up doing a lot more than the 5.3 miles listed for this trail. My total out and back was a little over 8.

The trail had a few Muddy spots. I was able to find a 5.7 mile loop going to the Cisco Ditch, which was just a ditch, not especially interesting.

Nice hike, lots of shades, got to see a deer, well maintained trail
