This is a great linear path that ends in a loop. It's a beautiful well maintained trail! It starts with a couple boardwalks through a dense hammock and opens to a flagella pine. The loop goes through some classic Florida scrub. Pay attention to trail markers. There are benches along the trail too. The Black Hammock Wilderness Area is a 700- acre property acquired as part of a comprehensive effort to preserve significant habitat along the shores of Lake Jesup. A round trip hike of approximately 4.5 miles of trails will take you through habitats such as Mixed Hardwood Swamp, Sand Pine Scrub and Pine Flatwoods. Wildlife observed on this site includes the barred owl, white-tailed deer, bobcat and eastern hognose snake. The variety of habitats and beautiful boardwalk and trail system makes this property a popular destination for mountain bikers, hikers, photographers and other outdoor enthusiasts.

Nice trail. Saw 2 snakes, one of which was a nice sized rattlesnake. Plenty of bear and animal tracks. One of the bridges was down but my boyfriend and I had a great time finding our way across. There are a few dead ends if you begin to venture off into alternate paths but all in all if was a nice simple enough trail.

The Boardwalk is a lovely walk-through that opens up into a scenic loop with a couple varied pathways. The contrast between the forested area and the scenic trail is stark. Rattlesnakes are identified to roam the area so my senses were a little more heightened that I would have liked. Overall, it was a decent morning walk.

Great start through moderate vegetation, crossing several wooden bridges. Little scenic enjoyment though once you reach the clearing and follow the loop trail. Nothing to be proud of, but not a waste of time either. 3/5

Beautiful area! Boardwalk ends into a lightly trafficked trail. Ran across a pigmy rattler and called it a day.

Love this trail. Great Boardwalk, may be a little slippery so careful during rainy season
