Wasn't bothered by any bugs on this trail! Lots of picnic tables by the water. The trail had a tape across the beginning and end with a sign that said there was logging going on, but we were told that the logging is stopped for now, the trail is open, and the day use fees are not in effect right now. We saw another person on the trail as well.

9 May 20 Great running trail. You have to keep mindful of the tree roots along the trail. Looked like the winter rye grass had been recently put down along the pea gravel with no mud along the trail. The bathrooms were open and clean. And there is no park fee at this time.

April 27: Trail was closed I’m only leaving a low review so that people are aware the trail is blocked off. We drove an hour away, nothing online about the trail being closed.

It was a really nice trail around the lake. Plenty of places where it open up into picnic areas and places to go up to the water where you can stop and just take it all I . Only saw about 4 people on the trail due to the virus - definitely not complaining. I’d say very family and dog friendly. There are snakes around the march bridges though, so make sure keep an eye out around the thicker vegetated water.

We love this trail! Our 4 month old puppy, as well as our 5 year old dog love this trail. Clearly marked, the path is clear of trees and vines (a friend of mine took her baby in a stroller with no problems). Our favorite part is the half way point, it is a giant shaded field with picnic tables, an outhouse, and access to the water. The path is not wide enough to walk side by side. The campground is maintained well, plenty of parking, tables, and access to the lake all along the trail.

UPDATE: TRAILS ARE CLOSED. Facilities are closed due to CORVID-19, but the parking lot/trails are still accessible. Lovely hike for a warm spring day, and hardly anyone else on the trail! The trail is well maintained—perfect for trail running.

Beautiful trail. There is a view of the lake most of the 4 miles. I believe I counted 9 boardwalks on the trail. Very few muddy spots for being that close to a lake. Several benches throughout the trail.

This trail was awesome. Me and my mom got there early in the morning to avoid some of the heat, and the path was heavily covered in spider webs. We picked up a long stick and swung it around in front of us for pretty much the whole four miles to avoid spider webs in the face, which worked! We also used bug spray, which i think was a good call. The trail was pretty much all shaded, and there was a nice breeze off the water, which was nice in the heat of early September. The lake was beautiful, and was visible for a majority of the hike. Very awesome!

I love that they've added more boardwalks. The view of the lake throughout this trail, is very relaxing. It's a great place to clear your mind.

Nice hike around the lake. Trail is wide and blazed clearly throughout. Nice scattered fishing spots along the way. Adding this to my favorites list.

Great trail but...they recently did a control burn and most of the trail is scorched trees and underbrush. While necessary for the health of the forest it was kinda depressing. I’ll be back but I’ll give it a few months to get some green back.

Great trail for a short day hike there are a couple low spots where it's a little muddy but there are benches for you to rest at and the boardwalks over the swamp areas are well maintained.
