This is a nice park to spend a day if you want to picnic, grill out, fish, boat, swim, or camp. However, the hiking is only so-so. There is a one mile nature trail on the property. In addition, you can take the swamp trail that shares a trailhead with this hike to head into Split Oak Forest, for several more miles of hiking. One interesting historical fact about the park. The property was used to produce turpentine from the pine trees on the property. In fact, you can still see evidence of the collection process. Some of the older trees have scar marks from the collection process.
