Mountain bikingGreat!

Great trail system. Most of it is divided by either biking/hiking or horse riding. One area isn’t divided so you have to look out for poop. The trails are very clean and well marked. Very nice

This was a really nice trail in the woods, that included a fairly lengthy boardwalk to go through wetland area and avoid the horse manure on the dirt trail.

Part of the trail (where blue turns to yellow) was closed and the horse part was partially underwater, was not able to go the full way.

This is a nice hike. we used the bike and horse trails and ended at the pitcher well and lake. There are open parts and shaded parts. Mosquitoes in the shade.

Nice riding in the parts of the trail that aren’t shared with horses. The shared trails were like biking over rumble strips, so that took away from the pleasantness a bit. Definitely more on the milder side when compared to most trails in the San Felasco region. Saw some wild hogs, which isn’t to be unexpected for more rural trails in the area, and the “lookout” was a good spot to sit and reflect for a little bit. The trees block a bit of the view but still a nice view. Overall, a good adventure with only 3 other people spotted over the course of time I was out there. That was the best part.

Barr Hammock Preserve South offers over two dozen miles of trails for equestrians, hikers, and mountain bikers alike! Four adjoining trails – Piney Woods Loop, Bayhead Trail, Still Branch Crossing, and Hammock Loop – will keep you shaded in dense forest canopy with a few open areas as journey through a diversity of flora and fauna. And while the trails traffic is light – I saw only a pair of horseback riders over several hours on a beautiful Sunday in October – the trails are well-maintained and well-blazed as they wind through Barr Hammock. Hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians share some portions of the trails. For the most part, however, the trails are separated for added safety and enjoyment. If you plan to hike a good 9 miles round trip, you can visit a lookout area over Ledwith Prairie, aka Ledwith Lake. Here you will discover an open grassy area with a pavilion sporting a single, large picnic table. At 5 miles in, it's the perfect time to rest with a snack. More importantly, you can look out over the prairie which is partially submerged. You will spot various waterfowl and other denizens of the marsh, and it’s easy to let an hour slip by around you enjoying the living view. Just don’t go wandering in, as you are likely to find alligators too!

Very well marked trail, and there are numerous mounted trails maps along the way at trail intersections. Some of the hiking trails were swamped. The main view which is at the end of the triangle trail was a bit disappointing. It's hard to see much from where you are standing. Watch for equestrians and cyclists.

Great trail near Gainesville. Trails are well-kept and well-marked. Dry when many other trails in the area are flooded right now.

First to Review

Nice cleared trails, mowed as well. Some occasional rocks on trail. Maps were available, trails are well marked. Several options for route to take. Some mosquitoes and deer flies. It was ok with bug spray. Rode about 2 hours, forgot to stop app, lol No water, no bathrooms, no picnic tables at trailhead but still a good place to ride.
