Arbuckle Creek is a lovely winding waterway located in south central Florida. Its adjacent to the old Avon Park Bombing Range. I've been here twice and have seen nothing but an occasional local in a flat bottom boat and two other kayakers. Lots of wildlife here and alligators a common site. Lots of canapoy to shade you from the sun. If you want a remote paddle this is your place. You can access the creek off of Couty Rd 64 (an extention of SR 64) near Avon Park.Theres only one sign for CR 64 so pay attention. Take CR64 then left onto E Arbuckle Rd to boatramp at end of road. Ample Parking. You will see only one house at the boatramp. Put in and head north to Lake Arbuckle and back....about a three hour tour. Current upstream is easy when creek is four feet or higher but still ok in shallower water, just more muscle involved. I've been here when creek was over 4 feet and once when it was 2-2.5 feet.
