This walk was easy but there are lots of rocks and roots on the trail. The path is mostly flat accept for a few hills. I recommend this path during the fall when the leaves change color.

It was a nice walk. It's listed as easy but is closer to moderate due to trail build (lots of roots and some rocks).

A moderate trail. Not sure why it's listed as easy. One of my favorites! This is pretty much my backyard and go-to park. I've worked for LPSP for a few years, and they only get better with time! Well manicured, clearly marked, great contours, bridges & overpasses, gorgeous scenery.. for a solid 6 miles. This trail hugs the pond so look forward to encountering a couple of muddy patches. My pups can't get enough! Never gets old.

The trail surface is forest floor and sometimes improved with gravel. It's well suited for trail running and mountain biking. Although the trail winds around the pond, it's mostly a walk in the woods, with several places to access the pond along the route. The bugs were out in force, and the pond level was high and encroaching on the trail in numerous places. Much of the forest floor sections were wet and muddy; hence the name Swamp Forest Trail. We walked the entire loop in about 2hrs, 40 min. at about a 21 minute mile pace. Bathrooms are available at the park office, or at the trail head.

Love this trail for SS mountain bike and running. I try to get to this gem once a month. Take the trail all the way around in one direction then repeat in reverse for a 14miler! A few different surfaces along the way... Be ware after rain, it's called swamp forest for a reason!

Great course for breaking in a new pack with weight. the elevation is nominal (it's delaware.. there is no elevation lol ). scenery changes enough to stay interested, and the distance is good enough to feel like you put in some effort that day.

Beautiful in the fall when leaves are changing. Surprised by the difference in terrain/foliage as you travel around the lake!

Great for walking, dogs, and the family. As many say, it is generally a level trail that's ideal for walking. If you are looking to get into mountain biking this would be a beginner (very beginner) place. They do have a few obstacles setup throughout the trail.
If you're a dog person, they have a portion of the pond set aside just for dogs. Very friendly place and well frequented by folks that have dogs that love the water. I'm one of them. Just a word of caution though: The water quality is fair at best. The do have posted warning about a certain type of algae.

Nice easy hike. Trail was well maintained. Took about 2 hours at medium pace.

I live close by and bike this trail and the Jersey Loop which has some horse dung most Sunday mornings. It is nice and flat with a few short inclines, The trail can be tight in spots so watch for others. All those that I have encountered have been respectful. Park staff is friendly and helpful. The Go Ape Zip Lines and boating are other family fun options.

Easy trail but a nice combination of woods, fields and camping sites. Some areas are grass which I would like to see them actually make a trail but otherwise its simple and nice for beginners or for those who just want an easy ride for the day. The trail is narrow and only suited for one biker at a time in some spots. You will run into hikers and horses on occasion but I've never had a problem with people yielding to me or vice versa.

An easy trail with pretty good views around lums pond. We were a huge fan of the man-made metal bridge that goes for about a quarter a mile over the swampy parts of the trail.

This is a great hike! Went here in the beginning of October so the leaves were changing. Not very difficult but a nice hike for a leisurely outdoor day!

I love Lums Pond. The Swamp Forest Trail is where I'm learning mountain biking. Flat, but has some places to play around and practice going over logs and roots, bridges and climb small inclines. Great for beginners but I see moderate paced rides there too. Fun and easy for hike with beautiful scenery. I see runners, hikers and bikers on most days that I go.

I've been road biking for a few years, but am new at mountain biking. I heard of the trails at Lums Pond, and did mostly the Little Jersey loop and some of the Swamp Forest trail. It was definitely an easy ride for me as a beginner still getting used to biking on dirt and roots. Almost no inclines. Was happy I brought my smart phone though, as the trail markings were a bit conusing at times (or non existent)

This is a 7-mile flat trail.

Negatives include: Minimal elevation changes, trail markings could be better (but as a prior poster said, if you follow the pond, you won't get lost), and a lack of a cutback route. Because it goes around the pond, there's no good way to cut through half-way if needed.

Positives: While the trail itself is nothing special, the atmosphere of the hike was wonderful. it's populated with people for about 2 miles where all the picnic areas are, and then it's pretty much solitude the rest of the way. Because it's so quiet, there's usually a lot of wildlife to see. On this trip I saw a frog, snake, and turtle all within a foot of the path. And the pond is in view for a large majority of the trip, making for nice scenery. There are also benches spread throughout the trail if you want to rest. Solid bridges were over every water crossing. Path was wide and would easily fit 2 people across through most of it.

This trail is an easy trail, lacks trail markings in areas, but as long as you stick to the trails that stay closest to Lums Pond you can follow it. The pond at this park is really wonderful. Has boat rentals, small sail boats, paddle boats. It also offers a great dog park to take your dog for some fun. The trail is not challenging at all but a good day hike.
