Trails are okay. Nice view of the water but the bugs are awful. Couldn't enjoy much because of this. However, did drive on the one loop and this was quite nice. Safe from the bugs!
very beautiful
Do this by car or fat tire bike. It is a gravel road. There are a lot of nice side trails you will want to explore.
This is the grand tour of Bombay Hook. There are several nice side trails, three of which are 30 foot lookout towers.
I spent two days in the park and hiked most of the short trails. They are all easy.
Great times went multiple times over a few weeks, Great at sunrise and set(pictures are amazing) We saw many water foul and other animals. We were however fed upon by mosquito's. We were prepared the second and third trips with bug spray and multiple layers however this did not work we all felt them through our clothes. Stock up on some good repellant.
Recommend a lot of bug spray.
We hiked around one of the pools following along the auto route. This route is a level one way gravel road. Not much too it. Lots of birds along the way.

There really isn't much for hiking. It's mostly a drive, very scenic. I didn't find an 8 mile hike anywhere. The longest I found was 1 mile. It was still beautiful! Make sure you take bug repellent though!

If you are interested in birds, particularly waterfowl, you will enjoy the park; however, for the purposes of hiking, the trails (with the exception of the Boardwalk Trail, which was perfectly marked) were relatively unmarked; the map was not correct in terms of direction or relative distance. The mosquitos were outrageous, despite using spray. I'm not a novice outdoorsman, and did not find this endearing. The flora and fauna, however, were enjoyable. We were greeted by a red fox, pelicans, egrets, sandpipers, herons, and more on the trails. There was wild rose mallow (hibiscus), goldenrod, sand pine, wild cherry, and a variety of other plant life.
