White Blaze Trail Loop is a 2.2 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Cromwell, Connecticut that offers the chance to see wildlife and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, running, and mountain biking. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Offline map is recommended to get oriented as several users have reported that this trail is not well marked.
Pretty muddy but that’s to be expected after a rainy morning. It had a couple pieces of unexpected elevation gain (but they were very short lived). We went WAY off trail and ended up following yellow for half of the return. Don’t regret it though- it was one of our favorite parts!
Not all trails are well marked so take caution if you are a newbie like me. I definitely got lost. Thank God for a couple of mountain bikers and this app!
Blue blazes toward the end were very hard to follow and didn’t always line up with the path shown on the app
Nice hike, trails seemed well marked. Very nice views of the river. There is a nice trail down to the river with a area that has several picnic tables.
horribly marked trails (you’ll want the map!!), but the views were really pretty along the river, which makes up a nice portion of the loop. the rest of the walk is a bit lackluster, but still worth it for the nice views.
Very poorly marked trails but a nice short walk. The section along the river is awesome. Alltrails is the only way to stay on track in this park.
This trail is a nice hike through the woods with a stretch along the Connecticut River and a stream. You definitely need to pay close attention to the trail to stay on the loop. We added a few extra extensions when we missed a turn, but enjoyed it all.
So this was for sure a beautiful spot, especially in the fall, but there are a few issues here. 1. The trail is definitely not an easy stroll through the woods. I would classify it as more of an easier moderate hike. 2. The GPS map is way off. We went clockwise and ended up on blue, way off thr red trail map. It wasn't a huge deal because I was watching the map and we were headed in the general correct direction, but still. Neither of these issues were a deterrent for me, but I'm sure they would be for some others. All in all, if I lived closer, I would for sure come back.
Got confused due to poor signage and GPS, but still an enjoyable walk. You can't ever really get too lost in this park.
There are Steep hills so not very kid friendly unless they are over 10yrs old. But loved it.
