Westwoods Orange Circle to White Circle is a 5.6 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Guilford, Connecticut that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and running.
This was a truly enjoyable hike. The orange circle trail started as a saunter in the woods but turned into some interesting rock formations, rock scrambles, caves and tunnels of white pine. White circle trail was also several ups and downs with rock scrambles to a beautiful view of Lost Lake. Will definitely come back to explore these trails again as well as others in this land trust. Beautiful area! I actually logged 6.2 miles
Great hike! Lots of ups and downs, some climbing if you go clockwise. The orange and yellow trail takes you through crevices that were fun. A mix of the marsh and forest. Truly enjoyed!
I was really surprised at the variety of terrain and views. The lake in the beginning, the scramble along its edge as you make your way around. From there some heights and overlooks, and then some really dramatic rock formations. After the turnaround the terrain was actually a bit challenging, but never too much. Really nice feel throughout the area, I am excited to go back and try something different.
This is such a fabulous place to hike. All 7 miles were one cool thing after another. Rock scrambles, caves, lake views, ridge rock slabs. Perfect. Pretty well marked.
Depending on the trail it is a little hard to follow at times due to overgrowth. We definitely took some cut throughs but overall it was beautiful!
This trail has great variety without being difficult, though I would probably rate it closer to moderate since there are some parts that require scrambling up/down rocks. Hardly any mud and not too many bugs yet either. It can be hard to follow the markers at times, recommend keeping the app handy since there are many crossing trails in the park.
My new favorite hike! Wow! A little bit of everything- rock scrambles, a cave, views and a lake. Can not wait to come back on the winter for even more spectacular views. Well maintained trails- only a couple of little bits overgrown but very good for end of May. LOTS of trails and the markings aren’t the best so def have the map. Orange (has the rock scrambles and cave) to white circle/square.
great hike, just make sure you follow the trail markers. Gets confusing at times. some of the trails were muddy after the rain but they weren't very populated.
One of the most scenic hikes I’ve ever been on. Absolutely beautiful. Out on Orange Circle and back on White Square.
My pups and I took the white trail to the Orange Circle trail and followed that out until we hooked back into the White Circle trail. What a great hike! Lots of ups and downs, ledges and fun!! I used micro spikes as I went in January and I’m glad I did. The biggest draw back to this loop is that the White Circle trail IS NOT WELL MARKED so I used my gps quite a bit. I would highly recommend this loop!!
