Great place to walk or run. Very well maintained. Follow the blue blazes and hike to Heublien Tower via the Metacomet trail! Can be muddy if you choose this route.

Relaxing trail with beautiful views! Runners, horse-riders, bikers; lots of outdoorsy people! Make sure you explore the northern trails, too! Pretty amazing!

Easy trail with the dog. About 10 minutes in there was a bug attached to his face. Might’ve been a tick but we managed to get it off. One side is fairly muddy and wet but the other side is dry and has a nice clearing of the reservoir.

Great walk. Beautiful scenery most of the way. A little less so towards the end, but all around a great trail. Easy parking too.

Hiked the Western side up the Metacomet trail over to Talcott Mt. State park until I came to Rt. 185 next to Penwood State park. The trails around the MDC 6 are perfect for runners and walkers as they are very level and low impact. I looped around the Eastern side on return, to find a clear cut view of the mountains covered in large evergreens. Seems to be very popular but everyone seemed very respectful and the surroundings were pretty peaceful. There is also a loop via the Metacomet across 44 with an old pavement parking area. Careful though lots of traffic rushing around and limited signage warning of hikers crossing. This seems to be the case with the New England Trail.

It's so nice to stroll a relatively flat path. This is definitely kid friendly. My 4 year old made it two and a half miles which is a testament to how easy the way is. The views are great, especially by the water plant. You can see all the way to Hartford!

It's a very easy trail. I went Sunday morning Feb, 5th. Very windy along the water. Definitely needed winter gear. Beautiful view. However, I got there at maybe 10am so there was some foot traffic from other walkers. If you're looking for some solitude, this may not be the spot at that hour. Maybe get there a bit earlier.

We took the trail to Talcott mountain via Metacomet trail. Follow trail about 1 mile then Metacomet on the left. We went up to the tower and back down around the reservoir, about 6.3 miles. Obviously goes from easy to easy/moderate based on the climb. Great for families, about 3 hours taking your time.

for first time hiking this was a very good trail .

Lately there has been mass destruction on the powerline stretch of the reservoir. Heavy equipment was brought in to destroy beautiful fields, trees and mountain laurel. Management has destroyed this trail, hopefully it will recover in 5 to 10 years. This used to be a great spot.
