Vista and Devil's Oven via Orange Trail Loop is a 2.2 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near East Haddam, Connecticut that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
The hikes are gorgeous! The bridge for the second orange loop and devils oven is complete. Be aware that the both times (orange and red) I’ve gone some paths in the trail need to be creatively crossed, and can be muddy or flooded. Neither of these would be suitable for children. The orange loop has a lot of elevation, and the red loop is relatively flat.
My new favorite trail. Most fun crossings ever - mostly logs rather than rocks. Don’t skip the climb up to Devil’s Oven!
Would recommend going earlier to beat the crowd! We went after a rainfall so there were some slick rocks and mud, but totally doable. Nice views!
Went with an infant and a toddler but couldn’t get even half way through. It was very nice but a little tough.
Good hike with a beautiful waterfall and nice and a peaceful forest setting. Devil's Oven is steep, but there's a little cave to see. Completely missed the overlook since it's not part of the main loop. Will have to go back eventually.
Lovely hike: pretty forest (including some impressive hemlocks); manageable up-and-down (I went clockwise, white to orange); delightful stacking rocks; nice view from Table Rock; pleasant stroll by the gorgeous Eight Mile River; spectacular view of Chapman Falls at the end. Early is better. By the time I got back around 11:00 AM, the parking area was full.
