Upper and Lower Chatfield Trail is a 7.8 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Killingworth, Connecticut that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
Located south of Chatfield Hollow State Park in Killingworth, the Chatfield Trail travels through portions of the Cockaponset State Forest and Forster Pond State Park as well as private lands. The trail winds its way through a mixed forest and features large boulders, rocky ledges, babbling brooks, and passes the Fat Man Squeeze (a narrow vertical crack in a cliff). Cliffs and rocky, uneven terrain make this trail a fun challenge.
Easy trail, walked the white trail circle, plenty of fun but not the breathtaking views I have experienced from other local hikes.
Beautiful. Trail is well marked. Fun hike.
