The eastern half of the reservoir loop portion is not much of a nature trail. skip it. But the tower is beautiful.

I hiked up from hunters run condos and took the yellow trail up to the ridge, just next to the tower, then down the blue Metacomet Trail towards the west Hartford reservoir. Then walk to the south on the Ashfall road, which is closed to traffic, until I hit Montevideo, then walked straight down from the ridge without benefit of trails but eventually connected to the gray trails that took me back home. No spectacular scenery, but it was a great workout.

Ok a long stretch of it is along a power line access road. The stretch along the reservoir is nice although quite flat. The out and back up the tower is very nice.

The trail was a constant steady incline for about 1.5 miles. The trail itself was meh, but the view and tower at the top make this a worthy trip. A lot of mosquitos.
