I run this trail every week. Its 2 miles down to the end from behind the ball fields. It's even and paved. The dog park is a little over a mile into it. Easy to do and pretty.

Don't park down town, take the 1st right across from Friendly Spirits marked a Canoe Launch. Don't be afraid of the treatment plant. If there is a smell, it will be gone before you even hit a tenth of a mile.
