This is a lovely trail. There are now several different loop options here. We did 2.5 miles on the green and red loop. It was very well maintained and easy to walk on. There are a couple scrambly inclines but they are not steep. It was a good difficulty level for us - my partner walks with a cane and can’t handle steep inclines and she did fine, and I carried our toddler on my back. The teen and middle schooler also enjoyed it. Very pretty walk.

This should actually be known as part of the 1,000 Acre Preserve, an area recently preserved by the towns of Old Saybrook, Westbrook and Essex. It’s a nice LONG walk through the woods. Nothing strenuous other than distance. Named Pequot, I guess, because it wraps around Pequot Swamp - not sure how else it might have gotten it’s name. The entire Preserve has other connecting trails but these are in the process of being officially established. Amazing and huge forest. Dogs required to be on leash. Bikes not permitted.
