HikingGreat!No shadeRocky

This is a beautiful trail. Unfortunately, we missed the turn to Waramaug Rock so we couldn’t see that view, but it was pretty throughout. It starts in an open wildflower field without much shade before beginning the ascent. Some rocks and roots on the path, but not too technical. The parking lot can get packed early as this is a popular hiking area on nice days.

We started from a side trail that started on Route 202 instead of the main entrance on Christian Street. Lookout trail had a temporarily closed sign on it but we figured it had to do with the recent storm so we kept going. Lots of trees had been cleared so trail was passable. Nice views from lookout and Waramaug Rock. Not very challenging but great terrain from the meadow to the forest. We’re didn’t find it too busy and we were at the Rock at noon. Dog and kids had fun too.

Great trail. Nice easy start in the fields. Great overlooks. A bit buggy but it is July and 100% humidity.

Love, love, love this hike. The ridgeline section a particular is a lot of fun. There is enough of a challenge to keep it interesting and the views are simply marvelous. Highly recommend.

Nice trail, pretty well marked, the first .7 miles is mostly open meadow but it gets harder and prettier after that. I went to the overlook and waramaug rock . Very pretty. I went clockwise so I did the 1.9 mile trail back to the park after waramaug rock back on the yellow trail. Definitely take bug spray. I went on a Saturday with a slight threat of storm, at about 2 pm. I saw about 10 hikers.

Absolutely beautiful hike. A solid workout, bugs not too bad (definitely use a tick spray at the very least- find a dog tick on me early on), and the views were positively stunning.
