My husbands FAVORITE kayak spot. It's an adventure. Secretive in a way. Beautiful birds, turtles around each corner. It's not a "through way" so it's quiet, private. We take our time just gliding through. There's a few people here and there that are fishing or hanging out on the banks. It's a great day trip kayaking

Drop an extra car off at The Canoe Club fka Harbor Park in Middletown and then drive to the launch next to the Dunkin Donuts on Rt 3 in Cromwell by Stop and Shop. Enjoy a nice canoe ride down the Sebethe/Mattabasset river and then out into the Connecticut River until the boat launch at Harbor Park. If I recall correctly it took a couple hours. If you pack a lunch you can stop at Wilcox Island when you first get into the Connecticut River and eat there.

Nice walking, running and bike trail. Nice workout if you do the whole thing.
