We went with a group of hikers. dropped cars at lot on Higby Road and car spotted a few down to RT 68 trial head. Hiked back from there for a total of 10.5 Really quite nice. Up and down often and views along the ridge. Crossing over RT 66 was easy with the cross walk light - then back up Higby to Camels Hump and down again. Back to Red/Blue connector to our cars. About 5 hours with breaks and picture taking.

We hiked this trail on a beautiful fall day and we were sadly disappointed. I would not recommend this trail at this time of year especially. Most of the trail was extremely rocky. There were loose rocks of various sizes covering most of the trail to the degree that you had to look down and watch your foot placement on every step. What made it worse was the covering of leaves over the rocks at this time of year. Both me and my husband almost turn our ankles many times. We could not enjoy the scenery and even missed a turn because we were constantly looking down. We will not return.

Any trail where you start and end at a ice cream shop gets at least 4 stars w me ! Obviously many places to park. But you can park at Guidas ice cream. Blue trail starts behind blue picnic tables. The first 3 miles are the very best. If it’s a warm day. Like the day I went. The trail is so close to the edge , you get a nice cool breeze, and it helps with bugs. Scenic almost whole 3 miles out. After that you head inward and deep into forest and are basically hiking /running on a rocky dry river bed. Not fun. A bit buggy. Nothing to great to look at. But if 3 out and 3 back is enough for you. Then very nice and ice cream after !!
